During her ever–evolving ascent into the world of oil painting and portraiture, Cathy Priest has sought to bring a tangible joy through the process. Constantly informing Cathy’s work is the desire to convey a sense of the life beyond a face or a place on canvas. Behind her brush strokes lives a life unseen except through her creative process. Many of her testimonials speak to this level of artistry, which transcends the material and brings to homes, businesses, universities, and galleries an unwavering and lasting emotive light.

In pursuit of these lofty aims, Cathy won scholarships and awards for her artwork in high school, college, at the Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts, and most recently at the esteemed Portrait Society of America, Cecilia Beaux Forum Mentoring Program, as well as the Oil Painters of America National Juried Show. She studied art extensively in Rome, Italy and Leuven, Belgium, completing her art degree with honors from St. Mary’s College of Notre Dame. Cathy has had the opportunity to study with some of the nation’s top portrait, still life, and landscape artists.

Cathy’s works can be seen in private and corporate collections around the world, in the US, Bahamas, Canada, Japan, Belgium, and Costa Rica. She has works displayed in the Northwestern Prentice Women’s Hospital, the University of Notre Dame, National Louis University, The Chicago School of Psychology, Robert Morris University, and the University of Chicago.
